In winter and spring numerous slopes of the peaks of Europe remain covered in a blanket of snow. We will be able to enjoy this spectacular landscape if we have the appropriate material and know the geography of peaks in these conditions.

Snowshoes have become the perfect ally for walking through the Picos de Europa National Park when it is snowy.

The itinerary runs within the Peaks of Europe National Park: We will transfer you from Panes to reach “Fuente De” there we will take the cable car to go up to the top station. We will put on our snowshoes to start the route in the direction of “Las Vegas de Aliva” passing through the “Chalet Real” and the Aliva Refuge. We will make a stop at a shelter to eat good broth, cheese, chorizo, loin steaks and village bread. We will also bring some bananas and chocolate with almonds. From there we will go to the winter resorts of Igüedri to go down to the lower station of “Fuente De” where we have the vehicle that will take us back to Panes.

We must bring warm clothing and a backpack that allows us to store part of these clothes, because to walk we should not go overly warm, but if we stop along the way we will soon need to put on some more layers.

It is important that you bring water as it is quite heavy and the guide will only carry his own.

Boots are our main source of problems so make sure they are not brand new and that they are comfortable.

We will leave from Panes in the company vehicles, around ten in the morning to return around six in the afternoon, so get ready for anintense, beautiful day and fun.
